Good bye Mr. Pothole, oh! there you are again! Also known as: "Look at these damned roads!"

We all awoke early this morning to get out of Bulgaria early in the day, after visiting the fortress and one of the churches in the town that we were staying in. Both were old and had paintings, nothing too unique. However, the paintings in the churches were both with their own attractment. The fortress had new paintings with a very unique style, almost cubist, but a little newer. This all makes for a very intriguing picture of Jesus, especially the collage behind the altar. The other church was ond of the oldest, with frescos remaining from the 11th century. The most suprising thing of them all were the excavation sites of the burrial grounds. There were about twenty Bulgarian men removing dirt from around about five skeletons. It was quite the sight when you aren't expecting anything like it. Soon after we were off to the boarder, dodging some potholes, which at the time, seemed pretty bad. And then we reached the boarder. Situated on the Danube river, it involves a road tax on one side, a drive over to the other side for the customs passport check. Crossing the bridge, one sees a sign that reads "Romania" and thinks as follows: "well I'm in Romania now this is... HOLY CRAP, DID I JUST DESTROY MY SUSPENSION!?!!!!?!!!" Because, you see, about 10 meters from the sign is a giant hole in the road which for some reason only seems to stretch the Romanian entering side of the road. Its almost as if they are saying, "Welcome to Romania, here's a nice taste, now get used to it." How hard can it be to just take care of the roads? And from what I hearm the worst is yet to come... *dun dun dun* So we made it to Bucharest with for intact suspension corners and tires, and proceded to walk through the city and found that the local Orange mobil store had not only cushy chairs and free internet, but also little localy decorated statues that look like obese 1 foot tall aliens from the movie Aliens. The best part of it all was that with the exchange rate for the US dollar, they only cost about $100. Which for an origional (in more ways than one) piece of art is reasonable. Bev then informed us that she had found a Mexican resteraunt. Thats right, a Mexican resteraunt, in Bucharest, Romania. And the greatest part was that it was actually good. It wasn't quite New Mexican, but it was definitely better than Tex-Mex. It was some where in between California Mexican and Utah Mexican. Without the grease of the California Mexican, but with the cheap comfort food quality of a nice Utah Mexican resteraunt. And it downright made Virginia Mexican look like a Dr. Suess creation from Hell. So while I sat there with my three tacos overstuffed with super salty beef, I watched Bev and Buz slowly make it through their mojito and margeritas respectively. As the dinner progressed, Buz became just a little more flirty with the waitress, and Bev just a little bit more like... well... Bev. It just took one more taxi ride and a lovely walk up the stairs to make it back to the computer, and to wait out my hands as I type another post.
